Minisforum's Tiny EM680 Mini PC With AMD Ryzen 7 6800U Now Available For $399 US

Minisforum has finally launched its smallest Mini PC powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU, the Mercury EM680.

The Minisforum EM680 Mini PC is a pocket-sized Mini PC that features AMD's Ryzen 7 6800U APU. This is a very capable machine that you can take anywhere with you and gives you lots of CPU and GPU performance for its size. We took a detailed look at the Mini PC during Computex 2023 & now the company has finally launched the first of these Mercury Mini PCs in retail for a starting price of just $399 US.

For this price, you are getting the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU which comes packed with 8 Zen 3+ CPU cores and 12 RDNA 2 GPU cores within the Radeon 680M iGPU. The CPU runs at up to 4.7 GHz with 16 MB of L3 cache and has a TDP ranging between 15-28W. The GPU offers 768 cores and operates at 2200 MHz. The APU is designed to support dual-channel memory with speeds of up to 4800MT/s in SO-DIMM designs but Minisforum has gone the extra step and is equipped with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory.

I/O on the Minisforum Mercury EM680 Mini PC includes three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, 2 USB4 ports (Power Delivery), a single TF Card Slot, an HDMI 2.1 display output, an audio jack, a DMIC, & one clear CMOS button. The HDMI interface supports up to 4K 144Hz displays and there's also a single M.2 2230 PCIe Gen4 SSD slot that can support up to 2 TB storage devices.

This SSD slot is located at the bottom of the Mini PC and features its own active cooling solution. The Mini PC is powered by the 65W GaN Type-C adapter which is included with the package and connects to any one of the two USB4 ports on the device.

In terms of cooling, Minisforum states that the Cold Wave 2.0 thermal cooling solution which makes use of liquid metal allows for lower temperatures while running at the full 28W TDP. The whole PC measures 80 x 80 x 43mm & you can take it literally anywhere you want at any time.

As for pricing, the base variant of the Minisforum EM680 will cost $399 US and will come with a 16 GB LPDDR5 and 512 GB SSD configuration. The 32 GB LPDDR5 variant will cost $449 US while the 32 GB LPDDR5 and 1 TB SSD configuration would cost $489 US.
