ASUS PN65 is the first Mini

Jun 30, 2023

ASUS is working on a next-gen Mini-PC called ExpertCenter PN65. According to the spec sheet posted by @momomo_us, the new iteration of this product line is now confirmed to feature 14th Gen Core Intel CPU.

The current model (PN64 series) is equipped with Raptor Lake Core i7-13700H/13800H high-end laptop CPU. Those are 45W SKUs that operate with cTDP (configurable thermal design power) of 35W. It appears that a successor will use 14th Gen Core CPU at 28W. One should note that Intel mobile CPUs are available in many variants, such as H, P or U series. It is up to the product design team to pick the best CPU for the power and thermal class of the device, but each processor can still be fine-tuned by increasing or lowering the TDP.

Intel already confirmed that the next-gen mobile platform will use a different naming schema, which does not sound like 14th Gen Core series at all. What this means is that the PN65 MiniPC could use a Raptor Lake refresh rather than Meteor Lake, but neither option should be ruled out yet.

Apart from the CPU upgrade, the PN65 will support faster DDR5-5600 memory (up from 4800 MT/s on PN64). The primary feature of the 14th Gen Core desktop series is support for faster memory, so should Intel also refresh its mobile SKUs, such upgrade would appear here as well.

It is worth noting that the product supposedly features Intel Iris Xe graphics, not Arc graphics which is a feature of Meteor Lake. This would further confirm that were actually looking into the latest update for Raptor Lake.
