Unveiling on May 26, the 5th Inter College English Language Festival, hosted by the Holy Cross College English Language Club, embraced its theme of "Where literature and nature converge, the human mind finds solace." Amidst the splendid aura of the college grounds, over 2,000 students representing 60 diverse colleges congregated to immerse themselves in the pinnacle of the English language.

In presence of Sr Shikha Gomes, the college principal, and Sr Pauline Gomes, head of the Student Directorate, the opening ceremony marked the commencement of a remarkable two-day journey, adorned with solemn prayers and the national anthem. The President, Tasnim Ashraf, and Vice President, Zarin Ashraf Moon, of the club warmly welcomed all attendees. Subsequently, the magnificent competition kicked off.

The theme was "romanticism in literature" and they portrayed it very well. This festival included exciting solo segments such as Turn The Coat, Enchant Through Verses, Act It Out, and Spell Master, and mind-blowing group segments such as Labyrinth of Literature, Literary Exposition, Language Championship, and Battle of Masterminds. "Labyrinth Of Literature", the signature segment of the fest had exciting twists and had the participants on their toes with utmost buzz. Toggi Fun World joined the fest as an entertainment partner and helped set up the final round of this segment. Toggi also provided free game coupons for our participants which was undoubtedly the most attractive piece of the fest. The "Labyrinth of Literature" winners were given free passes to the Toggi Fun World! "Act It Out" was the most pleasant segment to watch as the participants portrayed the fictional characters with hearts and souls.

The sponsors of the festival were Safe Food as the title sponsor and United International University as the silver sponsor. "They helped a lot to pull off the festival," commented one of the executive panel members of the club about sponsors. The food partners Go Green, Waffled!, Maggi, and snacks partner, ACI Fun helped to make it the most memorable and delicious festival for the participants.

Dr Rubana Huq, vice chancellor of the Asian University for Women, was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. The special guest was Md Murad Hossain Shohag, managing director of Safe Food.

Upon asked about the experience of the winner of Spell Master from Rajuk Uttara Model College, Farhin Parijat said, "The festival was an experience nothing short of extraordinary- the segments were truly delightful. The cooperative dispositions of the volunteers and organisers were appreciable, and it was great to see many lovers of language and literature from different colleges gathered together."

Champion of 'Act It Out' Radwan Ahmed Ratul from Notre Dame College also exclaimed his contentment, "The festival environment was remarkable, and the volunteers were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. Moreover, the guest speakers shared profound insights about life and goals, providing valuable learning opportunities. Overall, the festival was a memorable and enlightening experience."

Language holds a vital significance in our lives, and the pursuit of language learning is always cherished. The festival offered an unparalleled opportunity for participants to engage in immersive learning, encouraging them to think creatively and delve into the depths of language with exceptional results. The event fostered critical and analytical thinking, empowering participants to expand their mental faculties without any limitations. It is our fervent hope that they will leverage this valuable experience to illuminate their own future as well as contribute to the betterment of our nation's destiny.
