Minisforum debuts Venus UM790 Pro Mini

The company announced two products based on AMD latest mobile processor architecture.

Venus UM780 and UM790 Pro are the latest additions to Minisforums lineup of small form factor systems. The company has a long standing partnership with both AMD and Intel and has been involved in both vendors launch for many years. The recently introduced AMD Phoenix series is no exception and just as AMD is rolling out the series for system integrators, Minisforum are among the first to introduce their systems as well.

According to the video showcase, the UM790 Pro features Ryzen 9 7940HS APU, which is an 8-core and 16-thread Zen4 processors that can boost up to 5.2 GHz within 35 to 54W TDP range. More importantly, this processor is equipped with the latest Radeon 780M integrated graphics based on the RDNA3 architecture. This APU features a full configuration with 12 Compute Units clocked up to 2.8 GHz.

The system features a new "Cold Wave 2.0" cooling solution with liquid metal and dual-fan design. The secondary fan is dedicated to storage and memory cooling, which supports up to two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 drives in Raid 0. Furthermore, since this is a Zen4 processor, the system also comes with DDR5 memory.

Minisforum confirmed that the UM790 Pro has dual USB4 ports with Power Delivery, two HDMI 2.1 outputs and an Ethernet port for 2.5GB networking.

According to Minisforum post on social media platform Weibo, the system will retail at 3999 RMB, which is about 550 USD. However, the company did not provide any further information as to what is included in this price (memory and storage).

AMD China, who announced UM790 Pro launch on their social media account, also revealed Minisforum will launch a tiny Mini-PC with a Ryzen 7 7840U mobile CPU. There is however no launch date for this product yet.

And one more thing, contrary to what Minisforum marketing was showing, AMD Phoenix does not feature Adreno 780M graphics but Radeon 780M. Hopefully, the company paid more attention to the product design than its marketing. Edit: Minisforum corrected the mistake in a newly uploaded video.
